Linda Mirels is the immediate past Chair of the Board of UJA-Federation of New York and an honorary life board member. Linda co-chairs the New York-Israel Commission for the State of New York. This Commission is responsible for creating a framework to strengthen economic and cultural ties between the State of New York and Israel. She also serves on the board of American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, Board of Governors of the American Jewish Committee as well as it’s executive committee, and represents New York on the executive committee of the Jewish Federations of North America. Additionally, Linda serves on the board of the Tony Blair Foundation and the advisory boards of the Metropolitan Opera and Hillels of Westchester.
She was born and raised in South Africa and Swaziland, and completed her undergraduate degree in Johannesburg and her Master of Social Work and Management degree at the University of Washington in Seattle. She attended and gained her certification from the William Alanson White Institute in Organizational Consulting. She is also a Wexner Fellowship graduate.
Linda serves as a trustee of her family foundation, which focuses largely on social entrepreneurship projects, education, and microfinance in Africa and Israel. In addition to her philanthropic endeavors, she sits on several corporate boards in the family business.
