International March of the Living – “Virtual March of the Living”
April 21, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EDT
Since 1988, over 260,000 students, Holocaust survivors, educators and distinguished leaders from around the globe have travelled to Auschwitz-Birkenau on Holocaust Remembrance Day to participate in the International March of the Living. Each year on this day, they march en mass in memory of the victims of Nazi tyranny, in honor of those who survived and against antisemitism, intolerance and hatred.
Due to the CoronaVirus world pandemic, the 2020 March of the Living cannot take place on Yom HaShoah. However, the vital educational mission of the March of the Living remains as urgent as ever.
The International March of the Living and the Miller Center for Community Protection and Resilience at Rutgers University, in association with the USC Shoah Foundation, are pleased to present a specially-produced media event – the 2020 Virtual March of the Living Ceremony – aired on Jewish Broadcasting Service and available for transmission around the world on all March of the Living social media platforms.
The program will include:
- Special address by the President of Israel Reuven Rivlin
- First-hand testimony from noted Holocaust survivors Edward Mosberg and Irving Roth
- USC Shoah Foundation: 360 Holocaust Survivor Testimony Initiative, in cooperation with March of the Living
- Keynote Address from Dr. Mehnaz Afridi, Director, Holocaust, Genocide & Interfaith Education Center at Manhattan College
